Your website describes the Black Studies Collection as a “book collection.” Are there other materials related to Black Studies?

Although the Black Studies Collection is primarily a book collection, there is a significant amount of documentation of this interdisciplinary field in the holdings of The People’s Archive. Our archival collections focus on Washington, DC, but some document individuals and organizations which have had a national and international impact.  Several topics include (but are not limited to) African American military history, apartheid, the Transatlantic Slave Trade, the Harlem Renaissance and other elements of the African Diaspora.  Please contact us at peoples.archive@dc.gov or (202) 727-1213 for assistance.
