What is the process for donating an oral history project to The People's Archive?
Answer
All collections donated to The People's Archive go through a selection committee that balances collection development goals, research value, and preservation costs. For oral history projects, we require the following for assessment by the selection committee:
- A summary of the entire project
- A sample transcript
- A sample index
- A sample of audio or video, a clip is fine
Here's a link to a Box folder of required elements and specifications for oral history projects donated to The People's Archive. All projects must include the following for consideration:
- Release form for every interview
- Transcripts for every interview
- Indexes for every interview
- 1 paragraph summary of each interview
- 1 paragraph biographical statement for every narrator
- A summary of the entire project
- Optional: headshots of each narrator
