Can I read the Washington Post or other newspapers from home?

Yes, you can read Washington Post and many other newspapers from home. 

National Newspaper Core: Lets you select from a variety of publications and browse by specific daily or weekly issues of each paper, or search across various papers.

  • Once you click 'Visit,' it may prompt you to enter your library card number.

  • You'll see a ProQuest page that says U.S. Major Dailies at the top. Click on 'Publications' underneath the header.

  • Browse or search the list for your preferred  paper. Make sure the date range in the 'full text coverage' section includes the time frame that you want to read from.

  • From there, you can scroll down to "Browse Specific Issues" and select the date you're interested in.

Washington Post: full-text edition includes the years 1987 to present while the historic edition with full text searching of each page, individual articles and images include the years 1877-2000.

New York Times: full-text edition includes the years 1980 to present while the historic edition with full text searching of each page, individual articles and iages includes the years 1851-2013. 

Regional Newspapers: Search the full text of the DC Metropolitan newspapers (EXCLUDING the Washington Post) and other sources of current and archived articles on issues, events, people, government and more. It includes local news, editorials, announcements and other sections.

Wall Street Journal: Access to the financial newspaper of record, with in-depth coverage of national and international finance as well as first-rate coverage of hard news. Full text backfile to 1984.
